It is recommended that you download install Firefox, and make that your default web browser. I’ll try and fix the Internet Explorer Issue, but no promises when that will get done.
Came across this little utility from Microsoft -> Windows Live Writer
Its a small program which you can install on your windows computer and give it your user name and password. Do that once and it will remember those details so no need to fret about losing that password again.
The Cumbenauld Cricket Website is designed using "Wordpress" web blogging software. With Windows Live Writer you can edit your own articles on your computer just as if you were using a word processor, its that easy. Then hit the "publish" button and hey presto, your post is sent to the web site.

Cumbernauld 168 for 4
Glasgow Ansar 154 all out
Another fantastic victory for Cumbernauld as the club eased their relegation worries for the second week in a row. Starting with only 8 players due to work commitments, Cumbernauld lost the toss and were asked to bat first. To allow 2 other players to turn up after their work Cumbernauld needed a good opening stand and this they received from Captain F. Dacunha and Reid who put on 34 before Reid was out to a brilliant one handed catch. More importantly they lasted 15 overs. Dacunha was joined by McAteer and both players took the score to 92 before McAteer was caught and bowled just as it started to rain. Dacunha then retired hurt which brought Healy and Hardy together at the wicket after the rain interruption. Hardy hit a few good shots before he was dismissed but the less said about Healy’s innings, the better. Begley was joined by McDonald and this pair played like demons especially Begley who finished 45 not out at the end, playing some lovely crisp shots. Both batsmen pushed the total to an unlikely score of 168.
Ansar started their innings in a calm collected manner scoring at the required rate to win and with seemingly few problems until opening bowlers McAteer and Healy took 2 wickets in quick succession. Cumbernauld then had to endure a patient wait for the third wicket before McAteer struck with 2 more wickets and Healy with another one as both bowlers approach the end of their bowling spells. Ansar who appeared to be coasting then found themselves struggling at 102 for 5. Hardy replaced McAteer and McDonald replaced Healy. A few wayward overs put Ansar back in the competition before McDonald found his stride. This was the best spell of bowling from McDonald since he joined the club. Ansar had no answer to his pace bowling as he tore through the rest of the batting order. Backed up by Reid, who took 2 wickets including the last wicket and some excellent fielding form every member of the team, McDonald saw Cumbernauld home to victory by 14 runs, a magnificent victory for the 10 men of Cumbernauld.
As the holiday season bites and with more and more players working on a Saturday Cumbernauld are struggling to put 11 men on the field. The club needs new and more especially fit young players, no experience necessary. Cumbernauld Cricket Club are also on the lookout for a new home ground for next season and hopefully back in the Cumbernauld or Kilsyth area. Millerston, where Cumbernauld play at present has been sold as a housing development. Cricket is a fantastic summer sport and as the above report shows is a true team sport, played in the best sporting traditions. The club would love to move back to its home town.

ScotIndians 265 all out
Cumbernauld 5 for no wicket
(Rain Stopped Play – No Result)
Cumbernauld travelled to Hamilton to take on ScotIndians – a cricket club set up last year to allow members of the Scottish Indian community to play cricket as a team. Cumbernauld lost the toss and were asked to field in a constant light drizzle of rain. McDonald, after his heroics of last week and Naveed opened the bowling for Cumbernauld and were put to the sword by one of the best batting teams Cumbernauld have faced in the past few seasons. After all, ScotIndians gained promotion from Division 5 in their first season. After 10 overs of relentless batting Reid replaced Naveed and thanks to a magnificent stumping from McKay and a juggling catch from R. Hardy (who ended with 2 wickets from his own bowling and 4 catches) reduced ScotIndians from 95 for none to 145 for 3. Bonner replaced McDonald and although Reid and Bonner applied the brakes slightly, ScotIndians eventually started the juggernaught again and eventually it fell to Healy and a comical last over from Hardy to clean up ScotIndians for 265 all out. Brilliant fielding from Hardy, McKay behind the stumps and young Ewan Conway helped to keep the score respectable.
After tea and with the rain getting heavier Cumbernauld opened with Reid and Captain A. Khan. After 3 overs, Khan was hit with a ball that slipped from the bowlers grasp and an opening bowler sliding on the wicket trying to retrieve a delivery conditions were assessed to be dangerous and play was ended. No result but Cumbernauld escaped from this game with pride intact.

Cumbernauld Cricket Club
Kingholm 178 for 5
Cumbernauld 180 for 3
Cumbernauld entered this match third from bottom of the Western Union Division 4 badly needing a win to ease their relegation worries. Kingholm were relegated from Division 3 last season and looking for a win to stay in contention for promotion this season. Unfortunately for Kingholm they met a Cumbernauld side giving their best overall performance for the last 4 seasons.
Cumbernauld won the toss and asked Kingholm to bat first. McAteer and Din opened the bowling for Cumbernauld and on a very hot and sticky day put in a brilliant spell of opening bowling restricting Kingholm to 48 for 1 from 16 overs with McAteer taking the wicket. They were backed up by good spells of bowling from Healy, Hardy, McDonald, Ahmed and Reid with Reid taking the final wicket near the end. To keep the scoring low Cumbernauld’s bowlers needed backed up with excellent fielding and a superb display of wicket keeping form M. Begley behind the stumps emphasised this. McDonald and young Sean Healy were also excellent in the field. At the end of their innings, Kingholm appeared to have a winning score but Cumbernauld’s batsmen had other ideas.
McAteer and Begley opened for Cumbernauld and put on a superb opening partnership of 50 before Begley went for a score of 26. Hardy and Healy Snr came in and although both had brief innings they took the pressure of McAteer by scoring quickly. McDonald joined McAteer with 30 runs still required and through excellent pacing saw Cumbernauld home to victory with McAteer finishing 92 not out.
This was a brilliant result for Cumbernauld considering they played the whole match with 10 men. This came on the back of a couple of defeats where Cumbernauld played with 8 players due to injury and other commitments. Cumbernauld desperately need more members, no experience necessary, to come along and play on Saturdays or during the week. Great turn out for the opening match of the 2008 season.
Having won the toss, we decided to bat.
After 20 overs we managed 106 for 7. Excellent contributions from Chubby (32), and Pete (20).
In the failing light, we bowled Inverclyde out for 57 in 17 overs. Steve Healy managing two wickets and two excellent catches.
Great start to the season. Lets keep up the good work, and the turn out.

First friendly of the season has been organised at Millerston against Westquarter and Redding, from Falkirk, on Sunday 13th April (subject to WDCU fixtures being finalised).

Indoor Training has once again been organised at the Tryst Sport Centre in Cumbernauld, from 18:45 until 20:15.
Got a keep an eye on this. U19 WC2005 was a very entertaining affair. Some would say its more entertaining than the senior competition:
Well done to Tariq for organising training at the Tryst. First session was on Sunday gone (2nd Dec), if you didn’t know about it, read your emails. Those eight that turned up really enjoyed themselves.
It will be 45 minutes of general cricket fielding practices and 45 minutes of football. That should bring the fitness level right up.
Due to Tryst being booked up for some tourney, the next training session will be Sunday 16th December. Aiming for 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Let’s aim for a bigger turnout. (Might encourage a few more to respond to the AGM calls!).
So the season ends on rather a whimper. It should mean that Cumbernauld end mid table. With the last three games being rained off, apparently because the Gulf Stream was further south this years than is normal.
Well, better star watching your carbon footprints, if you want to play more cricket.
Time to start thinking about the AGM.
This was a classic match for the old adage: "Catches win matches".
Cumbernauld lost the toss and were put into bat on a another green top, albeit with less green than at the previous week’s encounter. It was certainly a home advantage type of pitch where it was difficult to judge a good score. Previous low totals were playing on the mind as few risky shots were offered, stemming the flow of runs. The outfield was fast so runs were certainly possible. Cumbernauld managed 129 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, 180 would have been a good total. Still that total was an all round effort.
Whitehaugh lost their first wicket after only 3 runs on the board. Azhar clean bowled the opener with a bowl that pitched on a good length outside the off and cut in to knock back the leg stump. The signs were good for Cumbernauld, but then the rain came down. That caused a 15 minute stop.
Immediately after the restart, Azhar managed to pull a muscle and did not bowl again. The rain break changed fortunes. Whitehaugh’s 3rd batter came in put even good bowls to the boundary. He certainly managed to make good his six lives (yes dropped five times!).
By the time Cumbernauld managed to hold on to a catch, the damage had been done. Cumbernauld fought back hard, but with only 17 runs to play with, they managed to pick up another two wickets but could not save the match.

What a difference a good wins makes. Having bagged 25 points last week, Cumbernauld now move up to fourth place. Important game up on saturday against Whitehaugh at Kelburne.

This season we have been fielding a more cosmopolitan side than usual. This weeks team featured cultural heritage from Scotland, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Australia and South Africa. Whilst our English buddies were soaking up cricket (literally) at Chester-Le Street, the boys (as Inzi would put it) served up an important victory at Inverclyde.
Fielding first, the opening bowlers set the game up with tight bowling and removing their top batsman. With less than 30 runs on the board and a wicket down after 12 overs, Asim the captain went for the "jugular": He brought on himself and Brian "Chubby" McAteer. between them they accounted for 9 of the wickets, 6 for Brian and 3 for Asim. The opposition had been restricted to 79 all out in 34 overs.
That meant Cumbernauld had 80 runs to get in 56 overs. That task was duly completed.
After a jittery start, good knocks from Asim, Tariq and Sheraz made sure of the points
Things not going to plan as Loangloan beat Cumbernauld. On a positive note we collected batting and bowling points.
There’s mid week game on Tuesday and League game against Vale of Leven, away on Saturday.
